An interesting and scarce Indian Mutiny medal with clasp for Lucknow properly named in engraved running script to Sowar Badan Singh of the 2nd Regiment of Hodson’s Horse. The medal and clasp to Sowar Singh, a Sikh, are fully verified by the roll dated the 22nd of December, 1860.
The 2nd Regiment of Hodson’s Horse only came into being after the death of the gallant cavalry commander, Captain W. S. R. Hodson, who had raised the regiment and for whom it was named.
